An introduction to conditional inference trees in R

A workshop held by Prof. Dr. Martin Schweinberger from the University of Queensland and the Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø.

The workshop was held in person on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 2 p.m. in room 1.003 (Übungsraum B im IAAK).

Description
Due to their relatively easy implementation, tree-based methods have surged in prominence in the language science over the past decade. Tree-based models have become an essential multivariate statistical method in the tool box of contemporary corpus-based analyses of language.

This workshop provided an introduction to conditional inference trees, how they work, and how they can be implemented in R. Importantly, we also discussed the underlying conceptual basis of tree-based models and explored their strengths and weaknesses in addition to focusing on their implementation.
